Get to know Dermatologist & Dermatopathologist Dr. Adaobi Nwaneshiudu Obasi, who serves patients in Laredo, Texas. 

Dr. Adaobi Nwaneshiudu Obasi is the Medical Director of Cutis Wellness Dermatology & Dermatopathology, PLLC, located in Laredo, Texas. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve their best skin, hair and nail health by offering them the best in dermatologic care and education. As a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist, Dr. Obasi uses evidence-based medicine to provide the most appropriate, optimized treatment plan for all patients’ skin, hair and nail conditions. Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with diseases of the skin, nails, hair, and external genital region. It is a specialty with medical, surgical and aesthetic/cosmetic aspects, which Dr Adaobi Obasi offers to all her patients. Dermatopathology, on the other hand, is a joint subspecialty of dermatology and pathology that focuses on the diagnosis of cutaneous diseases at a microscopic and molecular level, including rashes, cancers, and other skin growths, to better care for patients. 

Dr. Adaobi Obasi received her medical degree (MD) and her doctorate (PhD) in Microbiology and Immunology as part of a joint MD PhD program from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She was also inducted as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors society. Dr. Obasi also completed her residency in dermatology and her fellowship training in dermatopathology at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She is board-certified and a diplomate in dermatology and dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). As a dermatologist and dermatopathologist, Dr. Obasi speciality interests include skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, women’s health, early childhood dermatology education, cosmetic dermatology, ethnic skin dermatology (including pigmentary disorders), inflammatory skin conditions (including eczema/atopic dermatitis and psoriasis), cutaneous immunology (including connective tissue diseases like lupus and blistering diseases), as well as disorders of the external genitalia. 

Dr Adaobi Obasi has a passion for education which she believes empowers patients and the community to make autonomous healthy decisions and form good habits to enable them enjoy healthy beautiful skin throughout their lives. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, given many lectures on her research in immunology, as well as specialty in dermatology and dermatopathology in local, regional, national and international meetings. She has also authored book chapters in dermatopathology textbooks. Recently, Dr Adaobi Obasi has published a children’s book in English and Spanish called “Skintacular Facts – Fun Facts for kids about skin by a dermatologist” available on Amazon.com (link https://a.co/d/cz5dh7A) and “Hechos Skintaculares – Datos divertidos para niños sobre la piel por un dermatólogo” (link https://a.co/d/5hXztII ), respectively. 

Dr Obasi believes that prevention and early intervention through educating children on their skin, will set them up for healthy skin throughout their lives. In addition, Dr Obasi also educates the public on their skin, hair, and nail care on a YouTube platform called DermLayer (link Youtube: www.youtube.com/@dermlayer6455 ) with her educational videos called “FunDERMentals with Dr Adaobi Obasi.” These videos educate patients using simple analogies, examples and other tools to enable patients best understand their skin, hair, and nails to enable them make the best, holistic and personalized choices for themselves, to enjoy healthy, beautiful skin, hair and nails.
