    Hello, Depending on what IUD you have, your period may be abnormal after insertion. I would wait a full month after your last period and test again. IF you are still worried, you can get a blood test. READ MORE

    Hello, Bleeding in pregnancy is never normal and can be a sign of a miscarriage. I would recommend seeing an Ob/gyn for blood work and possible an ultrasound. READ MORE

    Hello, It depends on when your period was expected. If it was close to when you were suppose to get your period, it is most likely your period. If not, I would recommend getting checked out to make sure everything on your cervix is normal. READ MORE

  • Too much menstruation?

    You need to see a gynecologist to get this evaluated. That is too much bleeding and will make you anemic. READ MORE

  • Pregnancy constipation?

    Hello, Constipation is very common in pregnancy. The medication I recommend over the counter is Miralax which you can take one a day to help with constipation. If that is not helping, you can reach out to your OB/Gyn adn they can prescribe something to help. READ MORE

  • Pregnancy concern?

    Hello, Sometimes having some discharge can be normal in pregnancy (such as after intercourse), however any type of vaginal bleeding is not considered normal and would recommend getting an ultrasound if you can to confirm that you have a viable pregnancy (baby with a heartbeat).   • Could I be pregnant?

    Hello, If you are using a pregnancy test that is not expired, they are very accurate and they are not detecting any pregnancy hormones. If you do not get your regular menses in the next week, I recommend taking another pregnancy test. If they remain negative, it is unlikely you are pregnant. Make sure you check the box of the tests you are using. Some strips are actually ovulation predictor kits and not pregnancy tests.   • Voluntary hysterectomy?

    Hello, Thank you for your question. This is something that we see very often. Having fibroids and heavy vaginal bleeding would be a reason for insurance to cover a hysterectomy. It is a major surgery and there are risks involved including risks with surgery such as injury to surrounding structures, blood clots etc. These are all risks we would discuss before we schedule the surgery. There are other options that can help with decreasing bleeding including medications (progesterone pills), shots (Lupron) and other procedures that do not include major surgery (uterine artery embolization). If you are interested in this, I recommend finding a doctor who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and can help find the best solution for your situation. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Late menstrual period?

    Hello, Periods can sometimes be a little early or a little late. The normal range is between 21 to 35 days. If they fluctance a few days that can be normal. The medication you are taking is a NSAID which is similar to ibuprofen, however it does not usually effect the timing of your period. Hope this help.   • AUB and lesion on my cervix?

    Hello, Thank you for your question. I would not wait long to get this checked out. AUB can be due to many different things. Some are benign like polyps or fibroids, however it can also be due to abnormal uterine cells and even endometrial cancer. It can most certainly be related to pain in the lower abdomen, however weight loss is not usually associated with just AUB by itself unless something else is going on.   • Should I be worried about pregnancy?

Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Bayan Abunar, who serves patients in Hamilton, Ohio.

Dr. Abunar is a Ohio-based obstetrician-gynecologist with Primary Health Solutions, operating out of the office in Hamilton West. 

Primary Health Solutions is a non-profit, safety-net healthcare provider serving Southwest Ohio with centers in Hamilton, Fairfield, Middletown, Oxford, Dayton, and Trenton. It is  dedicated to giving people the resources they need to live their best lives and create healthy new beginnings.

Born in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Abunar moved to Puerto Rico when she was about one year old. Since the age of three, she has lived in Rhode Island, Jordan and Connecticut. She graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry in 2014.

Since her freshman year of college, she has been participating in volunteer opportunities with urban communities through another AHEC program called the Collegiate Health Service Corps (CHSC). After graduating, Dr. Abunar worked as a Program Coordinator for the CHSC and the Youth Health Service Corps (YHSC), a program associated with Southwestern AHEC. She has coordinated projects to teach healthy living and how to prevent chronic diseases. 

Continuing her medical education, Dr. Abunar graduated with her Medical Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2019. She then went on to complete her residency at UConn Health, where she was awarded the Dorfman Patient Care Award in 2023.
