Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Mansour Mathkour, who serves patients in New Orleans, Louisiana.

A determined neurosurgeon, Dr. Mathkour is a Minimally Invasive and Complex Spine Fellow at the Tulane University School of Medicine and Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana. His clinical interests include complex open and minimally invasive spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, spine oncology, spinal radiosurgery, and peripheral nerve surgery. 

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the King Abdulaziz University College of Medicine and Allied Sciences in Saudi Arabia in 2011, and completed his medical degree equivalent training with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in 2014. He then went on to complete his Master of Science degree and his residency in neurosurgery at the Tulane University School of Medicine in 2016 and 2023, respectively.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders that affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.
