- Dr Arumairaj also serves as director of resident research in the Internal medicine residency program based at New York medical College/Metropolitan in addition to his role as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He gives lectures to residents and medical students on clinical topics and clinical research.
Areas of research
Dr Arumairaj has undertaken Biomedical Research Alliance of New York (BRANY) IRB approved research projects and large database based research in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. His main areas of research include sepsis, septic shock, COVID-19 infection, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), tuberculosis and pulmonary infections. Dr Arumairaj has taken extensive research based on national inpatient sample analysis investigating national trends across USA.

New York, NY – Dr. Antony Jackson Arumairaj, an accomplished physician in internal medicine, has been a valued member of NYC Health + Hospitals since 2018. In addition to his clinical role, he has served as an attending physician and clinical assistant professor of medicine at New York Medical College since 2021. Dr. Arumairaj is known for his compassionate approach to diagnosing, evaluating, and treating patients while also mentoring the next generation of medical professionals with insight drawn from years of international experience.
Born and raised in India, Dr. Arumairaj was inspired to pursue medicine out of a desire to save lives and support critically ill patients. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, where he also completed his anesthetic training. Early in his academic journey, he was selected by the Indian Council of Medical Research for a prestigious and rigorous research project, which proved to be a defining moment in shaping his commitment to medical science.
Following his initial training, Dr. Arumairaj broadened his clinical and academic expertise in Australia, where he trained in emergency medicine and completed a residency with Queensland Health. He went on to serve as a registrar in both internal and emergency medicine under the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His time in Australia also introduced him to medical academia, where he began teaching as an assistant professor before relocating to the United States.
Since arriving in the U.S., Dr. Arumairaj has contributed to multiple healthcare systems, gaining valuable experience in critical care medicine. His tenure at New York Medical College and NYC Health + Hospitals reflects a career defined by dedication, global perspective, and a passion for both healing and education. Dr. Arumairaj continues to impact lives through direct patient care and by shaping future physicians with the same drive and purpose that first led him to medicine.
