Get to know Otolaryngologist Dr. Brittany Howard, who serves patients in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Howard is an experienced otolaryngologist specializing in aesthetic, functional, oncologic, and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck. She is the Chair of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

People with conditions of ear, nose, throat, and head and neck are cared for by the specialists of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Mayo Clinic. The Clinic has one of the largest ear, nose and throat practices in the world, with more than 50 specialists committed to providing individualized medical and surgical care to people at its campuses in Arizona, Minnesota, and Florida.

With a special interest in regenerative medicine, Dr. Howard focuses on the principles for facial aging and healing. She is an expert in surgical procedures including: rhinoplasty, rib rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, neck lift, mohs reconstruction, and nasal reconstruction.

In her official capacity, she is the Department Lead of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery at Mayo Clinic Committees, Mayo Clinic in Arizona; an Executive Committee Member of the Cosmetic Center; the Departmental Diversity Leader of the Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee, Personnel Committee, Executive Operations Team – Arizona; Chair of the American Medical Women’s Association; a member of the Hospital Practice Subcommittee, Clinical Practice Committee, Executive Operations Team; a member of the Patient Safety Subcommittee, Clinical Practice Committee, Executive Operations Team – Arizona; and a member of the Surgical Quality Subcommittee, Executive Operations Team, Mayo Clinic Arizona Committees.

Back in 2010, Dr. Howard graduated with her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She underwent residency training in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona in 2015. She was honored as a Mayo Clinic Scholar and went on to complete her fellowship in advanced head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017. She then completed a second fellowship at the same educational venue to further specialize in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. 

With an unwavering commitment to her speciality, the doctor is board-certified in otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. The non-profit organization serves the public by assuring that diplomates meet the standards of training, knowledge, and professionalism through initial and continuing certification.

Maintaining membership status with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Howard is a member of the American Medical Association, the Arizona Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Medical Women’s Association, and the Association of Women Surgeons.
