Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Richard S. Gist, who serves patients in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Dr. Gist is a cardiologist who is affiliated with the LSU Healthcare Network in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Gist received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1990. He completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Alabama – College of Community Health Sciences, a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University, as well as a residency in anesthesiology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Gist is board-certified in both anesthesiology and critical care medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). The ABA is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that constitutes the American Board of Medical Specialties. The mission of the Board is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.

Dr. Gist is also board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynecologists (OB-GYNS) and offers continuing certification to OB-GYNS in the United States and Canada. The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Dr. Gist is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG).
