An accomplished general and bariatric surgeon, Dr. Morris is affiliated with Houston Methodist Hospital, a leading healthcare institution in Houston. He specializes in hernia surgery, biliary surgery, anti-reflux surgery, surgery of the alimentary tract, with a particular focus on minimally invasive and bariatric procedures.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began when he earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia’s School of Medicine and completed his residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he is currently affiliated.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Morris is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Remaining up to date in his field, he is an active member of several esteemed professional societies, including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Furthermore, Dr. Morris is an active member of the Houston Methodist Lynda K. & David M. Underwood Center for Digestive Disorders.
Bariatric surgery (or weight loss surgery) includes a variety of procedures performed on people who are obese. Long-term weight loss through Standard of Care procedures (Roux en Y Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy) is largely achieved by altering gut hormone levels that are responsible for hunger and satiety, thereby leading to a new hormonal weight set point. A doctor who specializes in this type of surgery is known as a bariatric surgeon.
