Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ronald Quam, who serves patients in Everett, Washington.

Upon graduating with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2003, Dr. Quam went on to further his training. He performed his internship at Montclair Hospital Medical Center in 2004, his residency in orthopedic surgery at Michigan State University-Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center in 2008. Dr. Quam then served in the U.S. Air Force until 2015 as an officer and Orthopedic Surgeon. He then completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction/total joint at the Baylor College of Medicine Houston in 2016.

Following his education, he attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

“I chose to be an orthopedic surgeon because I am a very hands-on type of person. I knew I wanted to go into surgery, as I found helping patients through direct actions to be gratifying and exciting. Orthopedic surgery only reinforced this, since many of the surgeries can have immediate pain alleviating or life-changing results for patients. Let me also say that orthopedic surgery as a field is constantly evolving and growing. I feel that I will always be intellectually stimulated and challenged. You can never learn too much!” expressed Dr. Quam.

To advance his professional efforts, he remains a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, and the American Medical Association.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Quam has been the recipient of several awards and honors, including Patients’ Choice Award (2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017, 2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
