What is the role of dental implants in replacing missing teeth?
Dental implants can be a good option to replace a missing tooth. However, there are some contraindications. One is not enough bone and a bone grafting might be possible. It may take significant healing time before an implant can be placed. A secound contraindication is any active periodontal or gum disease. This should be addressed first otherwise you will have gum disease around the implant. Other options might be possible to replace the missing tooth and they should be discussed with your dentist.
