Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Heather B. Pearman, who serves patients throughout the State of Virginia.

Dr. Pearman is a well-respected podiatrist who joined Southwest Podiatry, PC in 2001. She operates out of the offices in Wytheville, Dublin, and Galax, Virginia. 

“At Southwest Podiatry, we believe that a doctor and patient become a team for treating an individual’s feet. Our physicians spend most of their time listening to understand your concerns and responding with the best treatment options for you. With the help of our professional staff, they also follow up to make sure that general pain is relieved, problems are resolved and your health improves” as stated on their website.

A specialist who helps with problems that affect the feet and lower legs, Dr. Pearman can treat injuries as well as complications from ongoing health issues like diabetic foot related issues and wounds. . Her academic interests include foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine and sport related injuries, wound care, as well as pediatric foot and ankle conditions. 

On active staff since 2001, she is affiliated with Wythe County Community Hospital, Twin County Regional Hospital, Lewis-Gale Pulaski Hospital, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, and New River Valley Ambulatory Surgical Center.

A native of Southwest Virginia, Dr. Pearman graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from King College in 1995. Four years later, in 1999, she earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.

Furthering her education, she performed her postgraduate surgical training in foot surgery / reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Saint Agnes Medical Center and Nazareth Hospital. 

A Fellow Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Dr. Pearman is an active member of the American Podiatric Medicine Association, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the Virginia Podiatric Medicine Association (Fellow), the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, the Associate American Association of Women Podiatrists, and the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons,

A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes. 

In her spare time, Dr. Pearman enjoys spending time with friends and family. She enjoys playing golf, running, hiking, paddle boarding, and coaching youth sports. She is very active in the community with athletics.
