Elica Health Centers is proud to announce that Dr. Charles Iverson Hooper, a board-certified family physician and surgeon, continues to serve the Sacramento and Jackson communities with a commitment to holistic and preventative healthcare. Practicing at Elica Health Centers – Mack Road and Gold Country Urgent Care, Dr. Hooper integrates his extensive medical training with a passion for the musculoskeletal system to promote overall well-being among his patients.
Dr. Hooper, who believes that health care encompasses mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition, exercise, and healthy habits in his practice. “Healthcare is not just about treating illness; it’s about fostering a balanced lifestyle that promotes long-term health,” Dr. Hooper stated. His holistic approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.
A graduate of Earl Wooster High School in 1971, where he earned a Varsity Letter in Football, Dr. Hooper went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Utah University. His medical education continued at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, culminating in his graduation in 1983. Further enhancing his expertise, Dr. Hooper completed a rotating internship at the University of Kansas and earned a Certificate of Completion in Ophthalmology from Stanford University in 1990. Later, he served in the United States Navy, where he underwent flight surgery training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI) in 1999, gaining expertise in aerospace medicine.
With more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Hooper has held significant positions, including Medical Director for the Indian Health Service, Interim Medical Director for Northern Inyo Rural Health, and a physician for the State of California for 15 years within the corrections system. His military career as a Medical Officer of the United States Navy spanned 18 years, which he reached the rank of Commander (O-5) and served as a Battalion Surgeon for the US Marine Corps with his last Billet being 4th Tanks, 4th Marine Division in Miramar.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Hooper is also an advocate for renewable energy, serving as the CEO of Renewable Energy Development Management, LLC, where he focuses on developing solar farms and other sustainable projects.
Dr. Charles Iverson Hooper remains dedicated to improving the health and well-being of his patients and the community at large, embodying the principles of holistic medicine in every aspect of his practice.
