Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Beasley graduated with his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1962. He then went on to serve his internship and residency in internal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, and an additional residency in internal medicine at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
