Dr. Mauterer is an addiction medicine specialist currently practicing within his private practice, and is affiliated with Hood Memorial Hospital and Lallie Kemp Medical Center. He was previously a board certified family physician and general surgeon, but now focuses on addition medicine, and morbid conditions.
In regards to his education, Dr. Mauterer graduated with his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine In New Orleans in 1957, giving him more than six decades of experience in his field. After earning his medical degree, he completed his internship with the Louisiana State University and his residency with the Touro Infirmary and Atlanta Medical Center.
He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana, Alabama, and Massachusetts, and was previously licensed to practice in Georgia. To stay up to date in his field, he is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a former member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Due to his expertise, he has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
