Bronx, New York – NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi proudly announces the distinguished leadership of Edward Conway Jr., MD, MS, FCCM, who serves as the Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Chairman of the Lewis M. Fraad Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Conway’s expertise and dedication to pediatric critical care are integral to enhancing medical education, advancing simulation techniques, and improving treatment protocols for conditions such as pediatric head injury and sepsis.

Dr. Conway, a native of Brooklyn, New York, has an impressive academic background. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Manhattan College and his Master’s Degree in Cell Biology from Fordham University. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, followed by extensive training at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His remarkable accomplishments during his training include receiving the Leon M. Davidoff Certificate of Distinction for his excellence in teaching and being recognized as a Lewis M. Fraad Scholar in Child Health.

Before returning to Jacobi, Dr. Conway made significant contributions to pediatric critical care as the Director of the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, establishing the first exclusive Pediatric Neurosurgery ICU program in New York and one of the pioneering programs in the United States. His leadership roles have included serving as Chairman of the Milton and Bernice Stern Department of Pediatrics at St. Luke’s Hospital/Roosevelt Medical Center.

An influential figure in national pediatric healthcare, Dr. Conway is the immediate-past Chairman of the Executive Committee on Critical Care for the American Academy of Pediatrics and currently serves on the Board of Regents for the American College of Critical Care Medicine of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. His commitment extends to local efforts as a senior member of the NYCDOH Pediatric Disaster Preparedness Committee and the NYSDOH Emergency Medicine Services for Children Committee. Furthermore, he has contributed to the recent guideline on Hemodynamic Management of Pediatric Sepsis.

With over 180 abstracts, papers, and book chapters authored on various pediatric topics, Dr. Conway’s influence continues to shape the future of pediatric critical care. NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is proud to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable leader at the helm of its Pediatric Critical Care Medicine department.
