Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. John Nasr, who serves patients in West Virginia.

A devoted gastroenterologist, Dr. Nasr is the Medical Director of Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Wheeling Hospital.

Back in 2004, he earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine in Lebanon, before relocating to the United States. Once there, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at UPMC in 2009 and 2012, respectively.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
