This Popular Food Additive Might Worsen Inflammatory Bowel Disease Symptoms
Future research regarding titanium dioxide
We need more studies about titanium dioxide. Specifically, we need more studies on about the subtle yet still harmful effects that can result from using this compound in products we ingest or use for personal care. For now, it's best to stay away from the compound altogether, especially if you suffer from inflammatory bowel disease. However, it's unfortunate that titanium dioxide is so widely used in industry. One scientist noted that it's nearly impossible to avoid ingesting any of this nanoparticle. Last year, a French Environmental Non-governmental organization found three products containing titanium dioxide that without a label for its use as an ingredient. Furthermore, most organizations regulating the food industry accept its use as generally safe, however, they are unable to set an acceptable daily intake because there lacks so much research about the chemical.
