11 Alzheimer's Signs and Symptoms that Should Never Be Ignored

8. Communication problems

A patient with dementia has more difficulty with their communication skills and language as their condition worsens. They may suddenly stop talking in the middle of a conversation because they do not know what words to say next. This means that looking for the right vocabulary is difficult for them. They can use the wrong names for things, incorrect or odd words for people or things that are familiar, and the same word repeatedly or make new words. Their repetitive behavior is due to the feeling of boredom, anxiousness, fear, or discomfort.

As time passes, they may depend on using gestures to express themselves or talk less.
