Are Married Couples Less Likely to Get Alzheimer's?
Keep the brain active
Studies have repeatedly shown that keeping the brain active throughout adulthood will decrease the chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This is something to keep in mind: the brain is a muscle and when muscles aren’t used they wither away. There are so many benefits to making sure the noggin is being used to its full potential. It’s also a good way to keep life interesting. No one is ever too old to learn something new.
- Learn something new by taking up a new hobby or signing up for a class
- Bring back mnemonics from school days and improve memory by memorizing things like state capitals or names of the great lakes
- Do those daily crosswords, play board games or finish that challenging puzzle
- Challenge yourself by taking new routes home or re-arrange and re-organize the house
