Study Looks into Fibromyalgia's Link to Skin Nerve Issues
The effect of high anxiety
Another observation was that fibromyalgia patients who have high anxiety level also had the most blunted pain response. In general, this finding is not as surprising as negative mental states have been repetitively found to increase the patients’ pain sensitivity. However, not all agree that anxiety directly correlates to the disease. One study that debunked the connection was conducted in 2010. It found that fibromyalgia relates to poor health perception but not to the cerebral processing of pain. Because the results have been so different, more studies should be made to shed some light on this issue.
This study clearly demonstrates that fibromyalgia has a strong connection to peripheral nerves in the skin. Although more in-depth inquiries have to be made, this provides a whole lot of implication for the world of health. In fact, some experts propose that SSR testing can be should in testing fibromyalgia patients biologically. In this study, researchers knew that more than 97 percent of the time, fibromyalgia patients are positive with other nerve issues found in the SSR tests.
