Study Looks into Fibromyalgia's Link to Skin Nerve Issues

The study's results

Results showed that the fibromyalgia group has slowed response in their sympathetic nervous system fibers and a dulled habituation process. Simply put, fibromyalgia patients had problems with their sympathetic nerves which dulls their response to pain. So, fibromyalgia isn’t just present in the brain but also to all other peripheral nerves in the body.

Also, a third of the fibromyalgia patients had no results in the LEP and SSR tests, whether partially or wholly. Surprisingly, these patients were suffering the most severe forms of fibromyalgia among all tested patients. They demonstrated high levels of neuropathic pain but had no response to the test in one or all factors of them. Experts agree that their sympathetic nervous system nerves are trashed someplace else. This finding even strengthened the connection between the variables as it shows a common heightened observation between the two variables.
