Survey Helps Patients with Muscular Dystrophy and Other Disabilities Find Employment
Muscular dystrophy patients are focusing to overcome obstacles and attitudes against them.
The disabled are looking for ways to successfully negotiate obstacles and attitudes in their employment. Some respondents felt that they were gradually overcoming these obstacles.
Those with MD and other disabilities are focusing on the successful outcomes of their peers and employers who accept employees with disabilities. They are looking for ways to find the best employment practices and discuss how to overcome the challenges.
According to Elaine Katz of the Kessler Foundation, “Approximately 69 percent of those surveyed are striving to work, which is defined as working, actively preparing for employment, searching for jobs, seeking more hours, or overcoming barriers to finding and maintaining employment.”
