The Importance of Light in Caring for People with Alzheimer's
So, what does the research say?
One study shows that for patients staying in nursing homes, exposure to bright light regularly during the morning and the evening results in more consolidated sleep at night. Specifically, this study looked at the circadian rhythm activity and showed that evening light increased its quality. The authors concluded that increasing daily exposure to light could help people with Alzheimer’s sleep better, and they encouraged nursing homes to increase access to light in common rooms so that even while inside, residents would get exposure to light.
