The Stress that Comes with Caring for Alzheimer's
The caregiver's struggle
Nancy Reagan is a well known example of someone whose life was altered in order to care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s. But, she is far from alone. Millions of people are currently in the same boat that Nancy was, and millions more will continue to struggle in the future.
The challenges associated with being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s were supported by two surveys released in June 2017. The first, conducted by the Alzheimer’s Association, found that 64% of caregivers feel “isolated or alone” in their duties as caregivers. Even more prevalent, 84% said they need more help with their responsibilities, especially from family members.
