For Some Crohn's Patients, This Dysfunctional Gene Could Be the Cause
Another study is in the works
Over the last few years, the mortality rate of Crohn’s disease has not changed, and the cause is still unknown. However, a better understanding of TH17 cells and MDR1 in Crohn’s disease could extend knowledge not only of the disease itself, but also for the development of innovative medications and treatments for alleviating symptoms associated with the disease. With the results from this study and the funding of a future clinical study, Sundrud and fellow researchers hope to test exactly this hypothesis and improve treatments for patients with Crohn’s disease.
