The Impact on Mental Health from Living with Lymphoma
Pay attention to your breathing
Breathing is one of the most important aspects of dealing with anxiety. When we get anxious with fear, our breathing becomes shallow. This means that the brain will not be getting as much air, which can further enhance these feelings of anxiety. Taking deep breaths will allow more air to reach the brain and calm you down. Whenever you feel anxious and extremely worried, take a few minutes and practice taking long, deep breaths. Make sure to push out your stomach and abdomen during inhalation to get even more air. Regularly doing this will do wonders for calming your anxiety, and it will give you a tool to regroup when things seem to be getting out of hand. And as an added bonus, you will finally have something that is completely under your own control, giving you power to deal with your situations.
