Muscle MRI: Predicting Functional Deterioration with Becker Muscular Dystrophy
Muscle MRI in dystrophinopathies
When mutations occur in the dystrophin gene, phenotypes such as Becker muscular dystrophy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy can be produced. According to studies done on the thigh, leg, and pelvic muscles of patients, the MRI pattern of muscle atrophies in patients with Becker muscular dystrophy is closely related to that of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In both cases, muscle atrophy is actually symmetric.
