In this case, muscles from both the posterior and anterior compartment of the thigh are actually involved in the largest percentage of patients. Examples of these muscles are biceps, semitendinosus, adductor major, vasti, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus. During the early stages of the ailment, muscles such as adductor longus, Sartorius, and gracilis are not involved at all. However, they can be involved in the later stages of life.
