The Connection Between Celiac Disease and Depression

Possible causes

A celiac patient with depression might have it because of the number of restrictions that they have. From this, the sadness may lead to the patient further ignoring his or her gluten-free diet or even worse, craving food that contain a lot of gluten. All of which is part of a vicious cycle that makes the condition much worse than it already is.

Of course, there is no concrete evidence that strictly continuing a gluten-free diet will alleviate the symptoms of depression because there are many other complex factors that can cause a patient to have depression.
