The Threat of Opioids and SSRIs in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Calcium needs vitamin D to function

However, calcium alone isn't enough. You also need Vitamin D to keep those bones strong. Know why? It actually enables the absorption of calcium. So even if you drink a gallon of milk, if you don't have enough Vitamin D it won't help you too much (unless it is milk fortified with Vitamin D)! The body creates Vitamin D when it has enough sun exposure, so heading outside may help - but remember to bring that sunscreen! Also make sure that you aren't already on any medications that cause skin reactions or photosensitivity. Speaking to your doctor is always the best route to finding how to best soak up the sun - or, the Vitamin D, rather, because that is what we are really after here!
