Being Pregnant with Lupus: Tips for Mothers To-Be

Frequent appointments

Doctors schedule women with lupus and who are pregnant, often. These appointments are usually bi-monthly visits that will monitor the baby’s growth, identify abnormalities, and give you reassurance and care. Between 20 and 30% of pregnancies may result in preeclampsia or a sudden increase in blood pressure and protein in the urine. These problems lead to swelling of body tissues. Preeclampsia requires urgent care and can only be cured by delivery of the baby. Seeing your doctor often will help monitor preeclampsia.
