The Gender Gap in Handling Stress and Diabetes

Difficulty with diet

In relation to management and outlook, in general, the female respondents from the Web MD study found the positive changes to activity level and diet quite difficult to maintain, even 5 to 10 years down the road. For men, the time span was 10 years from the initial diagnosis.  After about a decade, maintaining a healthy lifestyle became more and more of a challenge. Both genders, likewise, did report experiencing negative emotional or psychological impact due to the disease. This shows that over time, if the condition is not controlled consistently or if management gets to be too overwhelming, then additional support might be necessary to help a person to stay on track.
