Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Borzoo Nikpoor, who serves patients in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Dr. Nikpoor is a highly-trained cardiologist whose clinical interests include clinical cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging techniques. In practice with Signature Healthcare in Brockton, Massachusetts, he serves as Chief of Non-Invasive Cardiology & Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory. 

Previously, from 2008 until 2013, he taught echocardiography to cardiology fellows at Tufts Medical Center, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Educated in Iran, Dr. Nikpoor graduated with his medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences School of Medicine in 1997. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy degree from McGill University in 2002. 

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in 2005, and his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the said establishment in 2008.

Dedicated to the profession of medicine, Dr. Nikpoor is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and the National Board of Echocardiography.

Moreover, he is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, and adolescent medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Nikpoor is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE).

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart and circulatory system. Cardiologists assess, diagnose and treat a variety of conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias and congenital heart disease.

An authority in his field, Dr. Nikpoor was the first to discover a gene responsible for a rare but potentially fatal-side effect to a common group of cardiac medications (ACE inhibitor induced angioedema).

Among his various accolades include Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2012), Patients’ Choice Award (2015, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008), and On-Time Doctor Award (2015).

On a more personal note, he is fluent in both English and Persian.
