Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Sukesh C. Burjonroppa, who serves patients in Fort Worth, Texas.

A reputable cardiologist, Dr. Burjonroppa is in practice with Fort Worth Heart in Texas. He is dedicated to taking great care of patients, routinely diagnosing and treating complex heart conditions.

His special interests and procedures include transradial catheterization and intervention, carotid artery stenting with distal embolic protection, PFO and ASD closure, mitral balloon valvuloplasty, aortic balloon, valvuloplasty, percutaneous alcohol septal ablation, complex coronary intervention, as well as endovascular interventions (renal, iliac, SFA, below knee interventions, and vena cava filter placement).

Educated in India, Dr. Burjonroppa graduated with his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in 1997. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in 2003 and his residency in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2006. He also completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in 2008, and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2010.

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who excel and strive to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, in echocardiology by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in vascular medicine & endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine.

Actively involved in research, Dr. Burjonroppa has presented numerous abstracts at national and international meetings. He is a member of the Tarrant County Medical Society and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

Holding fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

An authority in his field, Dr. Burjonroppa was recognized at the ACC annual convocation held in New Orleans (March 2011) with the Young Author achievement award and was presented a plaque at the JACC editors meeting. His manuscript was published in the prestigious JACC interventions. 

He is involved in bringing state-of-the-art treatment to the community in Fort Worth. In keeping with this, he was invited to be faculty at the Dallas Transradial Summit at the Heart Hospital at Plano. This procedure, where left heart catheterization is performed through the radial artery, is thought to be beneficial in reducing bleeding complications and reducing patient discomfort in recent studies presented at the American College of Cardiology meeting in New Orleans.

On a more personal note, Dr. Burjonroppa is fluent in both English and Hindi.
