Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Tia Welsh, who serves patients in Coram, New York.
Dr. Welsh, a dedicated obstetrician-gynecologist, has been in practice for over two decades. She is the Director of Women’s Health at Sun River Health Elsie Owens in Coram, New York.
Her duties and responsibilities include: improving care delivery by monitoring performance and optimizing strategies; achieving program goals by effectively motivating and supervising over 40 different Women’s Health providers across 3 different regions; directing, supervising, and evaluating work activities of providers; directing and conducting recruitment, hiring, and training of personnel; coordinating effective interdepartmental collaboration through open communication between medical staff; and reporting to C- suite and providing quarterly updates of the WH Department to the Clinical Quality Council.
Sun River Health women’s health clinicians, including OB-GYNs, midwives, family physicians, nutritionists, and specialists in behavioral health, help women stay healthy through every stage of their lives. The care team gets to know patients’ individual health needs, learn about their health history, keeps track of any medications they are taking, and works with them to create a personal care plan.
Prior to her current endeavours, Dr. Welsh served as the Co-Director of Family Planning at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center (2012 – 2015) and then as the Regional Director of Women’s Health at Hudson River Health (2016 – 2019).
Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership and the American Cancer Society.
A 2002 graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Welsh went on to perform her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue. She then attained board certification through the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
