Continuously advancing his efforts, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who excel and strive to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Among his various accomplishments, Dr. Alfonso maintains fellowship status with the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the American College of Physicians (FACP).
