Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he was an All-Conference football player and graduated with three degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration. He completed medical school at Ross University, graduating with Highest Honors.
After completing an internship in general surgery at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Dr. Weldon completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Upon completion of his training, he underwent an additional fellowship year of specialty training in orthopedic sports medicine at McGovern Medical School, where he was selected as the Administrative Fellow.
Through his training, he has gained expertise in the latest and most advanced techniques for minimally invasive surgery and reconstructive treatments, as well as nonsurgical management and rehabilitation. He has a special interest in joint preservation, focusing on limb alignment and correction. Additionally, he also performs joint replacement, encompassing the entire spectrum of joint disease.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
In order to remain up to date in his field, Dr. Weldon is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Professionally, he has extensive hands-on experience in sports medicine treating high school, collegiate, professional, and recreational athletes. He is currently the team physician for the Houston Dash and has worked with the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, Houston Dynamo, and the athletic teams at the University of Houston. He is also currently the team physician for both North Shore High School in Houston, and Bridgeland High School in Cypress, Texas, and he participates in the care of many athletes at other local high schools as well.
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Weldon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
