Dr. Kaufman is a highly trained obstetrician-gynecologist at Great Neck OBGYN. He has been in private practice in the Great Neck/Manhasset community for over thirty years, priding himself on providing personal, compassionate and comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to all of his patients.
He has special interests in routine and high risk obstetrics as well as operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. His expertise also involves abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, and recurrent miscarriage.
Alongside his clinical role, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is actively involved in the training of medical students and resident physicians at the North Shore/LIJ Northwell Health System.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Kaufman received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University in 1977. He spent one year of research at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, after which he attended medical school at the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School where he graduated with honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society in 1982.
Thereafter, he completed his four year residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at North Shore University Hospital where he served as chief resident in 1986. In fact, he was one of the original physicians involved with introducing advanced gynecological laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgical procedures to North Shore University Hospital.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), Dr. Kaufman is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
