Dr. Gonzalez is a board-certified urologist & an internationally-recognized expert in minimally-invasive treatments for voiding dysfunction.
His goal is to provide state-of-the-art urologic care to improve patients’ quality of life, especially with urinary and sexual quality of life. His focus also encompasses the evaluation and management in urinary incontinence and pelvic floor reconstruction and functional restoration in women.
For men, Dr. Gonzalez is an expert in surgical therapies for BPH, including laser vaporization and/or enucleation of the prostate with GreenLight and Holmium (HoLEP), Rezum, Urolift, Aquablation and others. He currently holds a Center of Excellence Certification for both GreenLight and Rezum.
The former Medical Director for the Centers for Voiding Dysfunction and Clinical Research at Houston Metro Urology, Dr. Gonzalez currently practices urology with a focus on voiding dysfunction and pelvic restorative medicine reconstructive surgery at The Texas Medical Center in Houston. He has also joined the full-time academic faculty at Houston Methodist Hospital (serving as Director of the Urology FPMRS Fellowship) with faculty affiliations at various educational venues.
Namely, he is an Associate Professor of Clinical Urology at Houston Methodist Academic Institute, an Associate Clinical Member at Houston Methodist Research Institute, an Associate Professor of Urology at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, and an Associate Professor at the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Gonzalez graduated with his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1999. He then went on to complete his internship in general surgery, his residency in urology, as well as his fellowship in female urology, neurourology, and void dysfunction at NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Urology (ABU), the doctor has earned board subspecialty certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS).
On a professional level, he is an active member of the American Urological Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the International Urogynecology Association.
