Celebrating Two Decades of Exceptional Patient Care and Community Commitment

Dr. Nkungula, a distinguished Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, has been a cornerstone of dental excellence in the community since 2001. With a career spanning over two decades, she combines her extensive training and passion for patient care to ensure that oral surgery is a comfortable and positive experience for all her patients.

Academically, the doctor completed her undergraduate education at Walla Walla University before earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC. Her academic accolades include being nominated to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society in 1996. Following her General Practice Residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York, she made history as the first female resident to complete the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.

As a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Nkungula is committed to excellence in patient care. She holds active licenses in General Anesthesia and Dentistry across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Her dedication to her craft has earned her a reputation as a trusted and compassionate surgeon among her patients and the referring community.

In addition to her clinical practice, she has a profound commitment to giving back. She has actively participated in local dental screenings and promotional events, and she led a mission trip to Malawi to provide essential dental care to underserved communities. Her global perspective is enriched by her ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish and Chichewa, facilitating better communication with her diverse patient base.

As for her academic appointment, Dr. Nkungula’s previous role as an Associate Professor at Meharry Medical College reflects her dedication to education in the field. She is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association and the Maryland Dental Society, and she is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

In her personal time, she enjoys music, arts, running, and traveling, all while cherishing moments with her daughter, Sidney.
