  • Can acupuncture cure sweaty hands and feet?

Acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are very meticulous in diagnosing and thus can treat the condition more accurately. Treating sweaty hands and feet may be due to deficiencies, usually of the heart and/or lung qi. When the practitioner is able to get a full read of your symptoms and tongue & pulse presentation then there can be a great prognosis. There are several combinations of acupuncture and herbal supplementations to resolve the sweaty hands & feet complaint from the ancient times. Please check with your primary if this would be a safe alternative. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Does acupuncture cause itching?

Does acupuncture cause itching? It can! I have found in my practice as well as some of my colleagues’ usually if the patient is allergic to metals, especially nickel, itchiness can be a side effect to acupuncture. For those patients sensitive to the stainless steel or other metallic filiform needles, there are very few options for continuing acupuncture. Some have tried gold or silver needles which may be a bit more costlier, but another option is a Japanese technological needle: ceramic coated. A well known brand is Seirin, so one might ask the practitioner to try seirin ceramic-coated needles to try and avoid the itchy side effect. Check with your primary to see if acupuncture would be a healthy option for you and ask about allergy testing. READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help panic attacks?

I have definitely helped my patients with their anxiety and panic attacks through acupuncture. It has reduced their dependency on pharmaceutical needs and helped them interact with the world again. Please ask your primary for a recommendation on reducing any meds while trying acupuncture therapy. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • How long does it take for acupuncture to work for panic attacks?

Usually with acupuncture, there is an immediate sensation of relaxation at the chosen acupuncture points. It is a unique feeling, but contributes to the overall treatment for anxiety. However, everyone responds differently, so lasting effects may depend. Another concern would be triggers. Acupuncture may help, but if you encounter a trigger soon, it may flare up your reaction (anxiety) sooner than anticipated with treatment. Definitely check with your primary to ensure Chinese medicine would be a safe approach for you. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Is acupuncture effective for depression?

Acupuncture is proven with research to provide relief from pain and stress/anxiety/insomnia. I have helped patients with PTSD and depression as well. Please check with your primary to see if acupuncture would be a safe solution and don’t forget about other resources available. Combinations of treatments could be the most effective. • Can acupuncture cause miscarriage in early pregnancy?

Just as acupuncture can help with pregnancy, there are contraindicated and cautioned points that can harm pregnancy. The best way to avoid this is let your practitioner know that you are pregnant and they will do their best to avoid those harmful points/massages and safeguard the pregnancy. Of course make sure to check with your primary and OB-GYN to see if you are healthy enough for acupuncture. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help prevent a miscarriage?

Acupuncture & Chinese medicine (TCM) absolutely contribute to 10%-15% increased chances to prevent miscarriage with assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Acupuncture can stabilize the pregnancy and regulate hormones for preventing miscarriage. Chinese herbal medicines can contribute to an improved circulation in the fallopian tubes and uterus. Definitely check with your primary care/OB-Gyn physician to see if TCM would be a healthy option to consider. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help with insomnia?

Research does support acupuncture and Chinese medicine (TCM) relieving insomnia. The focus would be calming the mind and easing stress. The practitioner should get to the root of the problem which may be as simple as cutting Red Bull out or no more coffee after 12pm. Please check with your parents and primary care physician to see if you are healthy enough to try acupuncture and this complaint is not more dire. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help prevent viruses?

Acupuncture is often used to strengthen your immune system and prevent allergies and colds. With virulent cases, usually it is too late to prevent and acupuncture is then used to expedite the condition and progress the disease to help the patient get over it faster. Each condition is different and may have a different method of treatment for the best prognosis. Some may need alternative methods of treatment like fire cupping or even herbal supplementation. In any case, it is best to check with your primary care physician and to see if acupuncture and Chinese medicine would be a good alternative treatment for you. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help lung problems?

There are a lot of health issues relating to the lungs. Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one method to address ‘lung problems,’ but if the condition is severe/critical, this method may not be enough. In general, I have been able to help patients breathe easier, but it really depends on the underlying cause. Please check with your primary to see available options and make sure acupuncture would be a suitable choice. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Is acupuncture on the forehead safe?

Acupuncture on the forehead is very common, especially the glabella, also known as the third eye. This point is very calming and helps with the treatment. Other forehead points may be used for facial collagen strengthening. The practitioner should of course be aware of the sensitive organs like the eyes & nose, but the forehead is generally safe to needle. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Would acupuncture help plantar fasciitis?

Yes. I have had several patients complain of plantar fasciitis and have helped relieve them of that pain with acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Along with acupuncture, I incorporate massage techniques known as tui na, gua sha, and, if necessary/possible, can try cupping on the location of complaint. These treatments tend to help ease the muscle tension and help improve the patient's daily activities. Please check with your primary to see if acupuncture would be a safe medical approach for yourself. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help with knee problems?

We can use acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for issues relating to knee pain. However, if it is a much more serious and physical condition like fracture(s) it would be best to consider mainstream medicine first. Chronic conditions usually take longer to treat. Knee pain can definitely be treated, if you're trying to avoid surgery it is still possible to heal but may take some time. Make sure to check with your primary to see if you're healthy enough to try acupuncture & TCM. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can acupuncture help a torn meniscus?

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine are very good and effective for healing the bones, muscles, sinews & tendons. As long as it's just the meniscus, usually complete healing can be accomplished with the appropriate treatment of a quarter to half the year. If there are more complications involved like fractures, then a more dire approach like surgery may be required. Ask your primary to make sure acupuncture would be a safe alternative way to help if you're trying to avoid surgery. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can insomnia be cured by acupuncture?

Insomnia is definitely one of the treatments proven through research for acupuncture. However, I wouldn’t call it a cure because maybe in a month or year you may get it again due to the same illness affecting you or another. There is a very good response to acupuncture for insomnia, but it may depend on the cause as well. Definitely check with your primary to see if acupuncture may be beneficial for you. • Does acupuncture help you get over a cold?

Acupuncture has been used for everyday ailments. Getting over colds is definitely one of them and if you are currently suffering from a cold the goal is to speed it up so your body can get over it & build immunity immediately. If you’re expecting like seasonal allergies, acupuncture can be used to prevent it. If any fever and/or chills are involved, definitely see your primary care physician, especially in this COVID-19 season. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Is acupuncture a permanent cure?

This question is difficult to answer as there are many causes to different diseases. Most of the time health conditions are on going and the journey to healing for chronic conditions may be lifelong. Even seasonal allergies and headaches with acupuncture may only last a few years. Acupuncture is mostly for the relief from pain & anxiety, harmonizing the body & mind, and improving the quality of life. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • Can you treat tinnitus with acupuncture?

We can address and treat tinnitus with Chinese medicine. However, there are some chronic conditions that may take a lifetime to be cured. But acupuncture and/or herbal supplements will improve quality of life regardless. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • How does acupuncture relieve pain?

We use acupuncture to harmonize the body’s circulation. For example, if you can imagine watering a garden and the water flowing freely through a hose. But if you put a kink in the hose, that would be similar to the pain/pressure (impingement) in the body. We would then use acupuncture in different areas of the body to help free up the flow like a parallel electrical circuit. Research has also shown acupuncture stimulates beta-endorphins, a feel good chemical, to be released in the brain and alpha-adenosine in the muscles, a chemical that eases & relaxes muscle tension deeper and more microscopic than a massage. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE

  • How long does facial acupuncture last?

The effects of acupuncture lasting usually depend on how well the patient responds to acupuncture and how long the condition has been affecting the patient; chronic conditions are usually the longest to treat. Without knowing more about what the facial treatment is for it’s much better to ask about the prognosis from the treating physician. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
