Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Peter T. Simonson, who serves patients in Suffern, New York.

In practice since 1991, Dr. Simonson is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who sees patients at his private practice in Suffern, New York. With specialization in obstetrics, well-woman and preventative care, gynecologic surgery, and menopause management, the practice is committed to providing the highest quality care for patients by offering personalized attention in a friendly, comfortable environment. 

With a focus on his professional experience, Dr. Simonson also serves as an attending at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), he is a member of the American Medical Association, the Rockland County Medical Society, and the Rockland County OB/GYN Society.

A 1987 graduate of the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Simonson went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 1991.

Following his education, the doctor became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Simonson was born in Woodmere, New York.
