After earning his medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1983, he went on to complete his residency at Duke University Hospital in 1986, and his fellowship at Albert Einstein College Hospital in 1988.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
