Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Neha Maria Egbert, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.
A trusted obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Egbert has over 9 years of varied experience in the field, with a career focus on helping women in underserved communities. As a generalist, she enjoys both aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. Her time spent in the office allows her the time to discuss important aspects of women’s health with patients, like breast cancer screening, contraception, and planning for pregnancy.
After living in Manhattan for 5 years, she recently had a baby boy herself, and decided to move closer to her family in Long Island. She joined The Women’s Health Pavilion in 2022 because she felt it would allow her to provide excellent care to patients while working with a skilled and efficient team in a professional, yet family-like environment.
“I like to get to know my patients well and form strong bonds with them. I believe in taking care of all healthcare needs of women – from annual screening, to contraception, to their birthing journey, and finally menopause. I absolutely love when the patients visit me with the children I helped deliver. That makes my day!” expressed the doctor.
Growing up in a family of physicians, Dr. Egbert has always had medicine as an integral part of her life. She was raised in Dubai and Canada, where she volunteered in a few medically underserved communities and was immediately drawn to women’s health. It attracted her since it is the only medical specialty which gives physicians the opportunity to take care of two lives at the same time – mother and baby.
Academically, she earned her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering with Honors from McMaster University in Canada. She graduated with her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, and completed a rigorous residency in obstetrics & gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor attained board certification in obstetrics & gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
Among her most notable achievements, Dr. Egbert has been the recipient of the Gregory Kliot Award for Compassionate Care, and the Laparoscopic Surgery Simulation Award.
Fluent in both English and Hindi, she enjoys spending time with her husband and baby boy. She has a lot of family and friends in Long Island, so they get together as much as they can. They love to travel and explore interesting cuisines. She also jumps on her Peloton every chance she gets!
