Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Ali Abdul Jabbar, who serves patients in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Dr. Jabbar is a highly trained cardiologist at The Heart Institute – Northside Hospital Campus in St. Petersburg, Florida. His care philosophy is to treat patients like family. 

“First do no harm. Knowledge acquired should be passed on to the next generation of doctors. I am blessed to have the opportunity to save someone else’s life. That’s my drive to go to work everyday. Hope to drive the care of most patients if not all towards minimally invasive cardiac and vascular surgery” expressed the doctor. 

Since 2019, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida.

With regard to his academic background, Dr. Jabbar graduated with his medical degree from the College of Medicine University of Baghdad in Iraq in 2005. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. 

Furthering his education, he completed his fellowship training in advanced heart failure & cardiac transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine, in cardiovascular medicine at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, in interventional cardiology at The University of Toledo Medical Center, and in advanced endovascular and structural heart disease at John Ochsner Heart & Vascular Institute/Ochsner Clinic Foundation. 

Helping patients maintain a heart-healthy life, Dr. Jabbar is board-certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) and a member of the American College of Cardiology, he is also board-certified through the American Board of Vascular Medicine, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and the National Board of Echocardiography.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
