Dr. Spaulding is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and an Osteopathic physician. He is the only glaucoma specialist at the Institute. Before his medical career he served as a firefighter with the US Forest Service. He joined the Institute in 2018 and his special training includes the methodology and techniques of minimally invasive techniques to treat glaucoma.
He has a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) combined with cataract surgery, and refractive cataract surgery with premium lenses.

What is the best medicine for watery eyes?
Watery eyes is usually reflex tearing from dryness. Try artificial tears and hot compresses to the eyes. READ MORE

Do cataracts affect your balance?
Yes and no. They are likely not severe enough to cause balance issues. The brain and ears are also responsible for balance. You should go see your primary doctor first. READ MORE

Can eye floaters go away naturally?
They can slowly improve over time, but truly never go away. The brain has a nice mechanism to make you stop seeing the floaters over time. The concern is that if you have floaters, you could also potentially have a retinal tear that could turn into a retinal detachment. You should see a local ophthalmologist to be safe. READ MORE
When should I see a doctor for an eye irritation?
If the eye irritation doesn't improve within the next couple of hours, it's always worth seeing an ophthalmologist. The last thing you want is something that could have easily been treated resulting in major complications. READ MORE
How can I improve my eyesight fast?
You likely need to see an ophthalmologist to see if you need glasses. Other more serious conditions can cause bad vision and should not be ignored. READ MORE
Can you get floaters after vitrectomy?
It is possible to have floaters after vitrectomy but very unlikely. During the procedure they remove all of the vitreous jelly from the back part of the eye and that is what results in floaters. If you don't have any jelly you shouldn't have any floaters. Although it's very difficult to remove 100% of the jelly at the time of surgery. so if you have floaters there's a possibility you have some residual jelly left over. READ MORE
