What precautions should be taken after normal delivery?
These precautions are individualized. Depending on the delivery and pregnancy course, different precautions should be taken. You should follow up with your OB to familiarize yourself with any risks that you have based on your medical history. Breastfeeding is of course recommended. Can contractions feel like sharp pains?
Yes, contractions generally feel like sharp pains in your belly that last about 30-60 seconds and then resolve. If they come and go more frequently then every five minutes, then you need to be evaluated by your doctor. READ MORE
Can I use other forms of contraceptive along with the pill?
Birth control pills alone are considered a safe and effective method of contraception and no additional contraceptive method is necessary in conjunction. You should consult with your doctor if you are dissatisfied with using pills and desire switching to a different form of contraceptive. They're are many available! What are some signs that labor is nearing?
Braxton-Hicks contractions are irregular contractions of your uterus that start in the third trimester. You will enter labor when you start having persistent, regular contractions and your cervix starts dilating. READ MORE
What do you do if the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby's neck?
Many babies are born with the umbilical cord wrapped around their neck and there is nothing a doctor can do to prevent that from happening. Fortunately, it does not have a significant risk to the baby. The doctor will reduce the cord during the delivery. READ MORE
Can endometriosis interfere with implantation?
Endometriosis is considered an immune-mediated process. Therefore, if you have trouble maintaining a pregnancy (meaning you get pregnant but miscarry very early), then you may have an immune disorder that is causing your miscarriages. Otherwise, endometriosis will not affect your chances of getting pregnant, unless you are using assisted reproductive technology and have a large endometrioma (a cyst on your ovary). READ MORE
