Houston, Texas – Ruchir Arvind, MD, a distinguished psychiatrist and educator, is making significant strides in the field of mental health treatment and education. Since 2022, he has served as an Assistant Professor at the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. 

With a robust background that spans clinical practice, research, and academic instruction, Dr. Arvind is dedicated to providing holistic care for individuals facing a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, insomnia, attention deficit disorder (ADD), and other mental illnesses. He employs a multifaceted approach to treatment, utilizing a combination of medications, psychotherapy, psychosocial interventions, and innovative neuromodulation techniques such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This tailored approach allows him to address the unique needs of each patient, particularly those exhibiting psychiatric symptoms alongside neurological issues.

Graduating with his Medical Degree from Pramukhswami Medical College in India in 2011, Dr. Arvind’s academic journey has been marked by excellence. He completed his residency in psychiatry at UTHealth Houston from 2018 to 2022, where he honed his clinical skills. His commitment to research was further demonstrated during his tenure as a research assistant in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Texas Children’s Hospital from 2016 to 2018. In 2023, he enhanced his expertise by completing a fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at Duke University.

Dr. Arvind’s early career is distinguished by observerships and externships at prestigious institutions, including Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Rady Children’s Hospital, Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Mississippi State Hospital, and the University of Texas Medical Branch, which helped shape his broad clinical expertise. His professional roles included compassionate care as a psychiatrist at Lone Star Circle of Care in Houston and as a relief psychiatrist at the NeuroPsychiatric Center, demonstrating his commitment to patient wellbeing across various settings. 

Dr. Arvind is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Indian Doctors Association. He attributes his success to the positive feedback he receives from patients and his ability to listen to his instincts.
