Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. John E. Moore, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

Recognized as a highly trained cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Moore serves as the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Northside Hospital Atlanta. 

As such, he is trained to perform complicated surgeries on the lungs, esophagus, heart and other parts of the chest. His areas of expertise include lung cancer, esophageal cancer, thoracic cancers, and robotic surgery.

Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia, Dr. Moore is affiliated with Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital, Northside Hospital Forsyth, Northside Hospital Cherokee, Union General Hospital, and WellStar North Fulton Hospital.

A Graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he went on to perform his residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University He is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery The ABTS is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Moore remains an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons ,American College of Surgeons.and The General Thoracic Surgical Club

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax. Cardiothoracic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgical procedures inside the thorax, which may involve the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest. Thoracic Surgeons also diagnose and treat diseases of these organs. Throughout his career Dr Moore has been instrumental in developing a team approach to treating complex thoracic problems. Long an advocate of Lung Cancer Screening Dr Moore helped pioneer one of the first Lung Cancer screening programs in Georgia.
