Tips for Caring for Someone with Parkinson's
Take up knitting, running, and other interests!
Don’t forget to keep up with hobbies or special interests. Caregivers often complain about losing their identity when caring for Parkinson’s patients. Hobbies and special interests are typically the first things to go for caregivers. Lack of time or energy to start working on a favorite craft or start a new book is common. It’s important to have outside interests when being a caregiver. Try to incorporate hobbies into daily life for example, if knitting is a passion, start a new project. Share the details with the patient and try to carve out an hour or so a day when the patient is resting to just sit and knit, or even to just read a book.
