Coping with Fibromyalgia During the Holiday Season
Dieting during Labor Day
Having fibromyalgia makes people feel so worn out. Normally, eating food can gain their energy back, but there are some restrictions for patients when it comes to eating. Workers also have their special holiday which is the Labor Day. Some spend their money on shopping and eating lots of food while some spend time at home preparing homemade snacks, while going to a BBQ or two with friends.
However, there are certain foods people with fibromyalgia must avoid. First on the list are the fried and processed foods, and foods with a high amount of saturated fat, which could definitely be a popular choice at a Labor Day BBQ. Moreover, the sugar and salt intake should be limited too. A study conducted by the Department of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Medicine, University of Almería, Spain says that patients with fibromyalgia had a lower mean with the consumption of foods high in sugar content. Fresh fruits and vegetables and foods rich in protein like chicken and fish, grains, and low-fat dairy products should be present in the diet. Energy-rich foods such as nuts, seeds, avocado, oatmeal, and tofu should also be included in their diet so that patients would have enough energy for their body throughout the day.
